One of the other architectural highlights of our recent trip to London was getting to visit the Alexandra Road Estate in Camden. Like the Barbican, it is a brutalist housing marvel, albeit with a much different look. The apartments rise up, stadium-like, from pedestrian paths separating different sections. While the rising concrete terraces can seem overwhelming, there is ample greenery at all levels.
It started to rain as we arrived, but thankfully it lasted for only a few minutes. The wet pathways took on a sheen that I quite enjoy, however, and made for some nice highlights in these photos.
